How Our Painting Process Works

Like our residential projects, commercial projects always start with one of our estimators coming to the site. After taking measurements, they will calculate the scope of the work and give you an accurate estimate. At that point, we can schedule our paint team to make your vision a reality by following these main steps:
- Project Setup – When we arrive, we can take down décor from the walls, and we’ll move or cover furniture from the space. If there is anything truly valuable, we ask that you remove it prior to our arrival. Before we open a paint can, we will make sure the walls are clean and even, caulking or sanding wherever necessary to give us a great surface to paint on.
- Painting – Unless you have a preferred brand of paint, we usually go with Sherwin-Williams’ interior and exterior paints. Our experienced team will apply multiple coats to ensure an even finish.
- Cleanup – If you’ve worked with other contractors, you may have had a mess to pick up after they’re done. Not with us! We leave no trace of our being there—except the beautiful pain job, of course.
- Final Inspection – Before we head out, we will walk with you through the space and get your final approval. If you find something amiss during this final inspection, we will correct it. We are finished only when we know you’re completely satisfied.
Color Consultation Available

Choosing the color(s) of paint for your commercial space can be a tough task, but you don’t have to feel the pressure of going it alone. Platinum Painting can get you in contact with a color consultant who can give you expert advice on color and design trends, making the choice simpler. With this additional help, you’ll fall in love with the results from the start!

Commercial Painting FAQs
How Often Should I Paint My Commercial Space?
How often you should paint your commercial space depends on several factors, including the type of business, the amount of foot traffic, and environmental conditions. That said, most interior spaces should be repainted every 3 to 5 years to maintain a professional appearance and to protect your surfaces from wear. High-traffic areas, like lobbies, hallways, or restrooms, may require more frequent touch-ups. For exteriors, most buildings benefit from being painted every 5 to 7 years to prevent fading, cracking, and peeling. In either case, routine cleaning and maintenance ensure your results last and look great for as long as possible!
What Will the Timeline & Schedule Look Like?
The timeline for a commercial painting project in Arlington depends on the size of your space, the scope of your project, and the type of surfaces being painted. Most projects can be completed within a few days, but for much larger spaces, a couple of weeks may be needed. Before the painting begins, our team will provide you with a detailed schedule outlining each phase of the process, from surface preparation to the actual painting, as well as the cleanup at the end. We also understand that minimizing disruption to your business is essential, so we offer flexible scheduling to ensure neither your clients nor your employees are affected.
Is Commercial Painting More Expensive Than Residential Painting?
Commercial painting tends to be more expensive than residential painting, but the difference still depends on several factors. Commercial projects usually involve larger spaces (and often multiple stories), stricter safety or scheduling requirements, more manpower, and specialized or more durable coatings. All of this can increase the overall cost; however, remember that the investment pays off greatly in the long run! Commercial painting enhances your property’s value and appearance, protects surfaces from damage, and helps maintain a positive impression for all those who stop by.
What Type of Paint Is Used in Commercial Buildings?
Commercial buildings typically require paint that balances durability, performance, and appearance. It’s not uncommon for high-quality latex or acrylic paints to be used, as well as epoxy and low/zero-VOC options. However, the best paint type depends on the building’s use, location, and maintenance goals, and our team can recommend the right products for lasting, professional results. Here at Platinum Painting, we use Sherwin-Williams’ interior and exterior paints, which are known for their quality—but if you have a preferred brand, please don’t hesitate to let us know!
